The Advantages of Getting Yourself a Double Stroller
If you have got one or more children the scene is a familiar one. You're shopping; trying to make a purchase, and suddenly your youngest child needs attention. As you attempt to calm her down, your oldest child decides that this would be an outstanding opportunity to pretend they're a baby tiger and creep through the hidden depths of the supply shelves and racks of clothing. Or perhaps you and your family are at a fair or other event that requires you to spend a lot of time walking around. Though you have prepared for your youngest child to have comfortable accommodations, either by using a stroller or a baby sling, you aren't prepared for the moment when you older child thinks they are done with the day and sits down in protest until you have to either hold them wherever you go or go home.
No matter what situation you find yourself in, if you have got multiple young children, the purchase of a double stroller is one you will not regret making. This gives your younger child the same safe and comfortable accommodations they would have if they were traveling in a basic stroller while at the same time allowing your older child to get in and ride when they get tired of walking themselves. A double stroller lets you do this without dealing with the joys of simultaneously pushing two strollers (we've all attempted it--this is an exercise that is most definitely going to fail). Furthermore, if you've got two very young children this helps to avoid some of the rivalry that the older sibling might feel if they think they're being forced to keep going on foot, while their baby brother or sister is allowed to ride.
When double strollers were first on the market, they earned a bit of a bad name for themselves. They were difficult to steer, heavy, awkward, large and for the most part hard to pack around. Luckily, updated versions have been designed with comfort and safety in mind. Now, double strollers are much less heavy than earlier versions, and it's possible to purchase them in all colors and sizes. This will mean that if you would prefer a jogging stroller or an umbrella stroller rather than a full size, traditional model, you can have one without having to struggle with which of your children gets to enjoy being the passenger. You can also get double strollers designed as single strollers but has a stoop for your older kids, making traveling with it much easier without having to give up the convenience.
Most companies make double strollers, which means that they can be purchased from most major baby retail stores. This means if you live by a J.C. Penney, a Sears, or a Burlington Coat Factory (as ironic as it may seem, you can find almost anything in their Baby Depot), you can purchase one from them. But why should you waste your gas and time going to a store when you can readily shop at home by using the internet? You can have the double stroller sent right to your door. Regardless, you won't have any trouble getting a double stroller to match the needs of your family.
